John D. Dolan

September 17, 1946 — March 27, 2024

John David Dolan, age 77, passed away on Wednesday, March 27, 2024 at his home. He was born September 17, 1946 to Joseph and Margaret Dolan. He married Gail True in 1965 at St. Patrick’s Church in Onalaska, WI. First and foremost, he loved God, his country, and his family. John had 8 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren whom he loved to be around and spend time with. We remember very special trips to South Dakota. He loved fishing and going up to Winter, Wisconsin to go muskie fishing. He loved animals especially his wiener dog Oscar and his dog Gracie. He had a green thumb and his yard was immaculate. He loved going on Sunday drives with the love of his life, Gail, whom he was married to for 59 years. He had a passion for collecting guns, cleaning, and shooting them. He loved his neighbors and they loved him. He was always lending a helping hand to them. John also loved cars and detailing them too. He worked at Trane Company as a welder, inspector, and supervisor for 42 years and proudly served our country in the United States Navy. He really enjoyed when the Blue Angels came to town. John will be missed by so many. He was a very caring, loving, hard-working, and honest man. He is survived by his wife Gail Dolan; son Don (Tracy) Dolan; daughter Mary Dolan; daughter Sandy (Dennis) Reshel; sister Mary Kakuschka and Florence Olson; 8 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. John was preceded in death by his father Joseph Dolan; mother Margaret Dolan; brothers Jim Dolan, Frank Dolan, Tom Dolan, Charlie Dolan, Phillip Dolan, Bill Dolan, Don Dolan; sister Theresa Dolan; and great-granddaughter Eilythia Dolan. Thank you to Gundersen Hospice Staff and the Oncology Staff for all the compassion and care for our Dad. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 907 Sand Lake Road, Onalaska with military honors. Visitation will be held from 10-11 AM.
