John F. Davenport

John Frederick Davenport, age 68 of Mindoro, passed away on Tuesday, January 23, 2024 at Mayo Clinic, St. Mary’s Campus following a sudden and severe stroke. He was born April 13, 1955 in La Crosse, Wisconsin to the late Frederick and Margaret Davenport (nee Weltner). He married Nancy Davenport in 1977 and had two children. They later divorced but remained good friends and involved parents.

He graduated from Central High in 1973. He attended Jackson Area Vocational Technical School in Jackson, MN. He worked for many years with his father at Electric Motor Repair and Supply. He later worked at Ashley Furniture, Swiss Valley Cheese, and Premier Real Estate Management. John could always be found working with his hands, whether it was woodworking or fixing things for anyone who asked. He could often be found outside in a boat, on a motorcycle, in the woods, or at the shooting range.

He is survived by his son, Travis Davenport, his daughter, Teresa (Shannon) Davenport, brother, James Davenport, and girlfriend Janice Phillips. John was preceded in death by his brother, Thomas Davenport.

A graveside service will be held at 1:00 P.M., Friday, February 2, 2024 at Woodlawn Cemetery, La Crosse. A celebration of life will be held from 5:00-7:00 P.M., February 2, 2024 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, La Crosse.
