John G. Bright

John Bright (age 68) of La Crosse WI, passed away peacefully with family by his side, Monday, February 27, 2024.

John was born in La Crosse WI, on February 7, 1956, to Joyce (Hammersberg) Bright and John Bright. He was one of 4 children, Steve, Pam, John, and Tom.

John was a Jack (or John) of all trades, starting with delivering papers as a young teenager, through his last job of building houses. John spent many years working for The Muffler Clinic, in La Crosse, which was his favorite occupation, and passed along that interest to his girls.

You could often find John enjoying the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Nascar. He also loved to have a good laugh with Johnny Carson and Carol Burnett. If you couldn't find John at home, you could find him soaking up the sun on a countryside drive while searching for deer. John also adored the river, where he would like to fish, and never missed an opportunity to watch the big riverboats cruise the Mississippi. You could also follow the smell of grilled chicken or freshly baked desserts to find him.

John is survived by his daughters: Brandy (Josh) Borremans of Adams, WI, Chelsea (Troy) Moten of La Crosse, Bethany (Matt) of La Crosse, and Jenna (Michael) Nissalke of La Crosse. He is also survived by special nieces: Amy (Sylvester) Kendrick of La Crosse, Kristi (Dexter)

General of Madison, and brother Tom Bright of Colorado. He was a wonderful Grandpa to 6 grandchildren and 3 grandpups.

John is preceded in death by his mother and father Joyce and John Bright, sister Pam Bright and aunts and uncles.

The family would like to express deep gratitude to the ICU team at Gundersen Health, especially nurses Kelli and Jo, thank you for being there for him.

There will be a celebration of life, Sunday June 16, 2024, at Goose Island county park shelter # 5. Feel free to wear your best Packer, Badger or NASCAR shirt. If you would like to honor John’s memory the family asks you to make a donation to the Coulee Region Humane Society in his name.
