Joanne Koeller

Joanne Koeller, 90, of La Crescent, MN passed away on Sunday, March 9, 2025 at SpringBrook Village in La Crescent, MN. Joanne was born on March 7, 1935 in La Crosse, WI to Joseph and Violet (Hanson) Nagle. Joanne married Charles Koeller in 1960 in Pickwick, MN. She attended Winona State University graduating with a master’s degree in special education and elementary education. She taught school in Rushford, MN, Stewartville, MN and spent 32 years at La Crescent Elementary. Joanne volunteered for the Houston County Meals on Wheels for 20 years and was named volunteer of the year. She was fundraiser chairperson of the La Crescent Public Library which was remodeled in 1998. The Applefest committee named Joanne “Woman of the year” in 2012. She enjoyed selling crocheted items at area craft shows, spending time with her nieces, camping, boating and loving her 11 grandchildren and 21 great grandchildren.

Joanne is survived by her husband of 64 years, Charles, two sons Kevin (Sandy) of Houston, MN, Ken (Mary Guenther) of West Salem, WI and one daughter Barbara (Dave) Rood of Atlanta, GA. She was preceded in death by her sister Lila Solem and brothers Gordon Nagle and Stanley Nagle.

Funeral services will be held at 10:00 AM on Saturday, March 15, 2025 at First Evangelical Lutheran Church, 414 Main St., La Crescent. Pastor Adam Pilarski will officiate. Burial will follow in Hiler Cemetery in Nodine. Visitation will be held at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 111 South Oak St., La Crescent on Friday from 4-7 PM and again at the church on Saturday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.

In lieu of flowers the family requests memorial be directed to the La Crescent Public Library.
