Joan 'Joanne' M. Allemand

Joan ‘Joanne’ M. Allemand, 89, of Onalaska, WI passed away on Wednesday, January 3, 2024 at the Onalaska Care Center in Onalaska, WI. She was born on May 30, 1934 in Minneapolis, MN to Richard and Marie (Loven) Johansen. She attended public schools in La Crosse and graduated from Central High School in 1952. She married Glenn Allemand in June of 1954 and he preceded her in death in September 1958. She then moved to Madison, WI in 1959 and worked on the Housing Staff at UW-Madison, retiring in 1989 and moving back to La Crosse. She enjoyed traveling extensively, both in the U.S. and overseas.

Joanne volunteered at Trinity Lutheran Church, Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Gundersen Medical Center, Blood Center of Wisconsin, La Crosse Public Library, Harry J. Olson Senior Center, Salvation Army and was a reading tutor at Franklin Elementary School.

Joanne is survived by a brother Richard (Janice) Johansen, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews and great- great nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Glenn, sisters La Vonne Fluekiger and Donna Schroeder, brother Gary, brothers-in-law Roy Fluekiger and Marvin Schroeder and a sister-in-law Joyce Allemand.

Memorial services will be held at 2:00 PM on Saturday, January 13, 2024 at Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, 612 Division St., La Crosse. Pastor Joanne Richmond will officiate. Burial will take place in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 1:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials may be directed to Our Savior’s Lutheran Church, Franklin Elementary School or La Crosse Salvation Army.
