Joan L. Fanello, 79, of Holmen, WI passed away on Saturday, February 3, 2018 at Bluffview Memory Care in Holmen. She was born July 8, 1938 in La Crosse to Samuel and Antoinette (Bowden) Isbell and graduated from DeSoto High School. On June 8, 1957 she married Eugene “Muggs” Fanello at St. Charles Catholic Church in Genoa.
Joan attended classes to become a clown, and volunteered as “Banjo” for many years, a service she greatly enjoyed with her nieces. She loved cooking, baking and certainly had the gift to gab. Joan worked as a prep cook for Country Kitchen in Onalaska. She also worked as an assembly operator for TRW Inc. in Ettrick, as well as owning and operating family businesses throughout her lifetime. Joan’s greatest enjoyment came from spending time with her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren and many other family members.
Joan is survived by two sons; Donald (JoAnn) Fanello of Trempealeau, WI and David (Shelly Weeth) Fanello of Onalaska; a son-in-law, David Rybold of Holmen; six grandchildren, Jamie (Nathan) Wojciechowski, Doniel (Daniel) Escalera, Kylie (John) Fanello, Stephanie (Drew) Rybold, Erika (Jared) Happel and Anthony (Carly) Rybold; eight great-grandchildren, Hallie, David, Eliot, Jase, Alison, Henry, Evelyn, and Gwen; a sister, Carole Cox of Stoddard; a brother, Robert (Lorraine) Isbell of Jacksonville, FL; a brother-in-law and sister-in-law, Phillip and Shirley Fanello of La Crosse, along with many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, “Muggs” on December 17, 2017; her parents; a daughter, Gina Rybold and a grandson, David Fanello, Jr.
Private family graveside services will be held in the Stoddard City Cemetery with Deacon Richard Sage officiating.
