It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jerry Bruce Halsted on February 3, 2025. A devoted husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Jerry lived a life full of adventure, curiosity, and kindness, leaving behind a legacy that will be cherished by all who knew him.
Jerry married his high school sweetheart, Cheryl, and together they built a beautiful life full of love, laughter, and family. They celebrated 61 wonderful years of marriage in 2024, a testament to their deep bond and unwavering commitment.
A true adventurer at heart, Jerry had a passion for hunting, fishing, inventing, and exploring. Whether he was casting a line in a quiet lake, tracking game in the wilderness, traveling in their 5th wheel or bringing his creative ideas to life, he approached everything with enthusiasm and a deep appreciation for the world around him.
Jerry also had a love for teaching and spent his career as a dedicated educator at Longfellow Middle School. He retired in 1999, leaving a lasting impact on countless students who benefited from his wisdom, patience, and passion for learning.
Above all, Jerry cherished his family. He is survived by his loving wife, Cheryl; his daughter Kellie (married to Bob Scott) of Hinsdale, IL, and Bob’s children Jessica, Caroline and Sean.
