Jeffery G. Schultz

Jeffrey G. Schultz, 68, of La crosse, passed away on Thursday, May 9, 2024 at Gundersen Health System. He was born on August 10, 1955 in La Crosse to George and Donna (Sheets) Schultz. Jeff is a graduate of Central High School, class of 1973. After high school he loved to ride around on his Schwinn bicycle, in fact he loved I so much he and three friends rode their bicycles to Canada, TWICE.

Jeff was a custodian in the La Crosse School System for forty years before retirement. He was part of many clubs, including being president of a few, such as the Governor’s Guard Association, La Crosse Prairie Long Rifle and one of the founding members of Coulee Classics Car Club.

He was an avid outdoorsman. If it was outdoors, in the woods or on the river, Jeff loved it. Jeff really enjoyed participating in Rendezvous Reenactments around the area with the club La Crosse Prairie Long Rifles. Along with the outdoors he especially enjoyed spending as much time as he could at the family farm planting his 2-acre garden by hand. He particularly took pride in his pumpkins and eating green beans right off of the vine. He loved hunting at the farm every year, especially with his muzzle loader long rifle.

Jeff had a real enjoyment for decorating his yard and house for Halloween and Christmas, along with some friendly competition with his neighbor. Jeff was always there to help the neighbors with anything they needed.

One of Jeff’s main passions though was cars, especially his 57’ Chevy Bel-Air and two others. If it was anything car related, he was there. If he wasn’t at home you know you could find him romping around one of the local car shows with his friends and family.

Most Importantly, Jeff was a family man. He loved his wife and children more than anything. He would spend every moment he could with them, whether it was attending their sports games, long vacations to cool places, involving the family in his favorite hobbies or just sitting around the house.

Jeff is survived by his wife Kelly, sons David (Amanda) and Christopher and daughter, Haley, brothers Gary (Pat) Schultz and Bob (Joan) Schultz, father-in-law Darwin Blank, sister-in-law Ellen Blank and many nieces, nephews cousins and good friend Dave Freehill, along with others. He was preceded in death by his parents, mother-in-law Tresa and brothers-in-law David and Steven Blank.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Sunday, May 19, 2024 from 2-4 PM at Schumacher – Kish Funeral & Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. S. La Crosse. We encourage anyone with a cool car to feel free to bring to the service as he would really enjoy that.
