Jeff S. Jensen

Jeff S. Jensen, 53 of La Crosse passed away suddenly of heart complications while jogging on Saturday, May 2, 2020. He was born June 4, 1966 in Arcadia, WI to Dennis and Donna (Literski) Jensen and graduated from Arcadia High School in 1984 where he was active in sports. He later graduated with an accounting degree from WWTC. Jeff worked as a manager for Elmens Rent to Own in Eau Claire and later La Crosse until the company’s closing.

In 2006 Jeff went through a successful heart valve replacement surgery. It was then that he realized he wanted to devote his life to the care and well being of others, so he returned to WWTC and earned his degree in Respiratory Therapy. Since 2010 he has worked at the Mayo Health System in La Crosse.

On February 22, 2003 Jeff married Toni Smith in Kauai, Hawaii.

Jeff was an avid runner. He and Toni successfully completed marathons in all fifty states, with Jeff completing 56 total marathons. Jeff treasured spending time with his sidekick Snickers completing chores and time together at home. He also enjoyed canoeing, his garden and loved to set up his Bloody Mary bar for Octoberfest.

In addition to his wife Toni; Jeff is survived by his parents, Dennis and Donna Jensen of Arcadia; a sister, Kim Halama of Independence, WI; two nieces, Betsy and Katie Halama and a nephew, John Halama; his father in-law, Lyle Smith of Mauston, WI and mother-in-law, Joyce Smith of Elroy, WI; two sisters-in-law, Sue (Kevin) Riley and Sandra (Paul) Hoppmann and many nieces and nephews from Toni’s side. Jeff is further survived by many close friends and his rescue dog, Snickers. He was preceded in death by his paternal and maternal grandparents and three brothers-in-law, Ken Halama, Jon Smith and Alan Smith.

Private family services have been held with a public celebration of life to be held at a later date. Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse is assisting the family.
