Jean A. Minegar

September 5, 1934 — April 1, 2020

Jean Ann Minegar, age 85, passed away peacefully, April 1, 2020, due to complications from Alzheimer’s disease. She was born on September 5, 1934, in Waukon, IA to Carl and Alma Ellingson. She married Ronald Barry Minegar on October 15, 1955, and were later divorced.

Jean was a loving mother and raised her family in La Crescent, MN. She was a long-time member of Prince of Peace Church. She loved to go on bike rides, read books, spend time with her grandchildren and visit with her friends over a pot of coffee. She had a great smile for everyone she met. Jean was a night owl who could usually be found sitting on her living room chair during the evening watching her favorite television program - The Johnny Carson Show. She enjoyed cooking and baking for her family and was widely known for her world-class tater tot casserole. Desserts including apple crisp, rhubarb pie, grasshopper pie, brownies and her “Melting Moments” cookies were amongst her specialties. She absolutely loved music, stuffed animals, dancing at Moxies and playing the card game “Nuts” late into the night.

In addition to being an excellent homemaker, Jean worked as a bus aide for many years assisting students with the same love and compassion she provided her own family. She also worked on her own providing house cleaning services to households throughout the La Crescent area.

Jean is survived by her younger sister, Lois Anderson; her four adult children, Ron of Chandler, AZ, Scott (Stacy) of La Crescent, MN, Joel (Kellie) of La Crescent, MN and Lisa Gerberding (Larry) of La Crosse, WI. Additionally, she is survived by her loving grandchildren, Jenna Ryan, Craig Minegar, Salem Minegar, Skylar Behm, Cody Dawson, Rylee Dawson, Kennedie Dawson, Travis Minegar, Ryan Minegar, Jude Williams, Vada Williams, Cody Gerberding, Shayne Gerberding and Haley Gerberding. She is also survived by her “good friend” and grand-daughter Sydney Minegar. 😉

In my Father’s House are many mansions, if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.   John 14:2
