Janet J. Mccann

October 21, 1929 — July 29, 2022

Janet “Janice” J. (Fillner) Ferguson / McCann passed away on July 29, 2022.

Our Beautiful Mother was born October 21, 1929 to Arthur and Grace (Webb) Fillner and attended Blessed Sacrament Elem. and Aquinas High School. She married Donald Ferguson on November 15, 1947 and had five children together, daughters Debra (Gary) Heyroth, Christine (Joseph) Bolwahn, Cindy (Rick) Wall, Laura (Scott) Rustad and son Steven Ferguson, ten Grandchildren and 9 Great Grandchildren. After Don’s passing in 1982, she married Jerome McCann on June 23, 1984 and gained five more children, Michael (Donna) McCann, Bill McCann, Paul (Kim) McCann, Linda (Jeff) Pischke, Jim (Joanne) McCann, eleven grandchildren and 22 great grandchildren

She was a wonderful mom, talented artist, seamstress, baker and gardener. Her paintings graced her house for all these years. She sewed many dresses, outfits, wedding dresses, bridesmaid dresses and even sewed some of the Blue Star Color Guard cummerbunds before they became a Drum Corps.  She also did some seamstress work for Joan Engh who became Miss Wisconsin. Later she helped her father and mother in-law (Richard and Christina Ferguson) at their C & R Catering Business. She then found employment at a small bakery on Market Street, until she got a job at St. Francis Hospital and for 18 years worked in the kitchen. She loved bowling, and in 1976 joined a league with her sisters and played up until the time she turned 90. She was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary and the VFW and enjoyed playing cards with the ladies at the American Legion. Her baked goods were shared with the family, and she made the best apple pie slices we ever tasted. When a need arose for a parishioner to be driven to church, she volunteered and drove Agatha to Blessed Sacrament every Sunday.  Most of all she loved her beautiful flower gardens and woe to any weed that dared to grow in her garden or yard. A life well lived.

She is survived by her children, many grandchildren and great grandchildren, nieces and nephews, sister Doris (Jim) Melcher, sister-in-law Mary (Joe) Wakeen, brother-in-law Patrick (Rose) Ferguson

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Donald Ferguson, and husband Jerome McCann, granddaughter Jennifer Rustad, great granddaughter McKenna Verse, step son Michael McCann, sisters Veronica (Gunther) Gerske and Beatrice (Frances) DeFlorian, brother Henry (Patricia) Fillner, sister-in-law Juanita (Ken) Borchert, sister-in-law Janice (Spencer) Johnson, brother-in-law Roger (Patricia) Ferguson, sister-in-law Jeanette (Albert) McRoberts, brothers in-law, Robert McCann and John (Mary) McCann.
