Jane M. Duncan

Jane M. Duncan, age 91, of La Crosse passed away on Monday, February 10, 2025, at her home. She was born in Sparta, WI on February 23, 1933, to Jack and Phyllis (Wienke) Harris. They lived in Leon, WI for a short time before moving to La Crosse where she went on to graduate from Central High School. Jane worked for 33 years at the La Crosse Rubber Mills until her retirement. In June of 1953, she married Harvey Duncan and together they had four children: Cindy, Frank, Sue, and Jeff. The couple later divorced.

While playing softball in 1976, Jane met Vicki Freidel, and the two of them became best friends. They loved travelling, making it to all 50 states and also Canada and Mexico. The two would pack up Jane’s van and go on road trips for two to three weeks at a time. As well as being an avid traveler, Jane enjoyed camping, bowling, and playing softball. She loved spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren, great grandchildren, and great great grandchild.

Jane is survived by her children, Cindy (Ron) Taylor and Jeff (Julie) Duncan; lifelong friend, Vicki Freidel; grandchildren, Audrey (Matt) Dietz, Kaycee (Josh) Gradzielewski, Kendra (Danny) Bisek, Josi (Mitch) Gunderson, Fr. Marcus Knecht, Megan Duncan, Brianna Duncan, Adam (Emily) Duncan, Michelle (Clint) Craft, and Jennifer Conrad; 17 great grandchildren; one great great grandchild; and many nieces, nephews, and friends.

Jane was preceded in death by her parents; children, Frank Duncan and Sue Bell; and sisters, Joan Parsons and Lynn Boldoun.

A Celebration of Jane’s Life will be held from 10:00 am until 2:00 pm on Saturday, March 1, 2025, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse with a prayer service being held at 10:00 am. Jane will be laid to rest at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park later in the year.
