James (Jim) Howard Young, age 84 of La Crosse has joined our heavenly father on March 29 th , 2022. He died unexpectedly due to a massive stroke.
He was born December 7, 1937 in La Crosse to Howard and Eleanor (Buelow) Young as the second of four children.
He attended Holy Trinity Grade School and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1955. He enlisted in the Air force and served until 1959. He was married to JoAnn (Krause) on August 13 th , 1960 until her death in 1999.
He worked at Dairyland Power Genoa Station No 3 for 30 years, in many different capacities leading up to his final position as Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor.
He loved to spend time with family and friends. He enjoyed the outdoors including fishing, hiking, swimming, camping, softball. In recent years, many good times were had at the casino, fishing, and keeping the best kept yard in the neighborhood with his best friend Ann. His fun-loving personality and smile brought so much joy to all whom he touched. He was always the first to lend a hand. He was a member and volunteer at the Moose Lodge.
He is survived by his two daughters Jonna (Dan) Goede of La Crosse and Jamie Swift of Avon CO; five grandchildren Matthew (Amy) Goede, Jeffrey (Karen) Goede, Olivia Swift, Anneliese Swift, and Evelyn (Christopher) Moore; three great grandchildren Ryder Goede, Soren Goede and Sterling Goede and soon to be born baby girl; his sisters Carol Netwall, Kathy (Doug) Cox; his sisters- in-law Judy (Gene) Mitby, Jackie McClintock; his brothers-in-law Gary (Dian) Krause, John (Joyce) Krause, his best friend Ann Sandvig and her children Eric (Stacie) Sandvig, John (Kelly) Sandvig, Christine Sandvig.
He was preceded in death by his wife JoAnn, his parents, his brother Robert Young, his newborn son Joseph, sister-in-law Judy Young, brother-in-law Marcellus (Lump) Netwall and many other loved ones.
Funeral Service will be held on Tuesday, April 19 th at Holy Trinity Church in La Crosse, with visitation from 9:00 am to 11am with mass at 11:00 AM and military honors to follow immediately after.
