Jim Pfiffner, 63, died in his home on Tuesday, November 5, 2019. Jim was born on December 6, 1955 to Dorothy (Rud) and Eugene Pfiffner. Jim grew up in Hokah, Minn., and graduated from La Crescent High School. He married Angela (Iverson) Luethe on May 15, 1976, and was blessed with three children from this marriage. Jim and Angela later divorced but remained friends.
Jim worked at the former Food Bonanza grocery store before moving on to a long career at the La Crosse Waste Water Treatment Plant. He ended his working career at Interstate Roofing when poor health forced him to retire early. In his younger years, Jim enjoyed playing softball and coaching a women’s softball team for Wayne and Judy’s Bar in Hokah. He also enjoyed hunting and ice fishing.
After Jim was no longer able to work, he spent almost every day helping his elderly dad with chores, errands and just visiting with him. Jim also enjoyed visiting with friends and other family members. He was very proud of his children.
Jim is survived by his three children, Amy (Jared) Lemke, Holly (Lorenzo) Trudeau, and Ben (Amanda Faust) Pfiffner; and three grandchildren, Jackson Morrison, Zaryn Trudeau, and Quinn Trudeau. He is further survived by cousins, nieces, one nephew and his siblings, twin brother, Joe (Lisa Merfeld) Pfiffner, Larry Pfiffner, Heidi (Tim) Lorenz, and Tom (Cindy) Pfiffner. He was preceded in death by his brother, Matt, and parents, Dorothy and Eugene.
A visitation will be held from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., Saturday, November 16th at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 So. Oak St., La Crescent, Minn., followed by a celebration of life at 3:00 p.m. at Hummer’s Pub in Hokah. A private family burial will be held at a separate time.
