James "Lumpy" Mccabe

James “Lumpy” McCabe, 75, of Brownsville, MN passed away on Monday, March 5, 2018 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on October 17, 1942 in Caledonia, MN to William and Helen (Ernster) McCabe. He married Carol Lorenz on July 1, 1961. In 1985 he started McCabe Roofing, Inc. Lumpy acquired many good friends. His best friend Les Hartley called him sod (farm boy) and said he used a roll of roofing paper for a pillow.

He is survived by his wife, Carol, sons William (Renee) and Daniel (Katie), grandsons Ben, Nick and Tucker, brothers Joseph (Linda), Charles (Patricia), sisters Jean (Dale) Kinstler and Joan (Kevin) Vatland, close friends Gary “Poochie” (Barb) Lorenz along with many social friends. He was preceded in death by a son Michael and a grandson Joshua.

A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, March 31, 2018 from 1-4 PM at the Brownsville Community Center, Brownsville, MN. Fr. Tom Jennings will officiate. Private family burial will take place in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Hokah, MN. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred to Woodland Industries, Caledonia, MN.
