James D. Knobloch, 96 of Holmen, WI, passed away on Saturday, May 8, 2021 at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse. He was born in La Crosse, WI, on September 20, 1924 to John and Ida (Hass) Knobloch. He married Evelyn V. Bjorge on May 16, 1959 in Winona, MN, and she preceded him in death on October 15, 2006.
Jim had proudly served his country with the United States Navy during World War II. Following his military service, Jim began a lifetime career as a lineman with Century Telephone. He was an avid sports fan of not only the Green Bay Packers and the Milwaukee Brewers, but also women’s collegiate softball and the Little League World Series. Jim loved to visit and socialize with people. Visiting area nursing homes and hospitals were favorite activities along with the occasional trip to a casino. If you were within earshot of his house there was a good chance you would hear polka music playing.
He was preceded in death by his parents, five brothers; Jerry (Mabel) Knobloch, Robert (Myrt) William (Myrtle), George and Charles Knobloch; three sisters, Julia (Louis) Klahn, Sivera (Dean) Palmer and Eldiva (Walter) Servers, a daughter and son in law Kathryn (Dale) Kellison, son and daughter in law Doug (Ardis) Lamprech, and a great grandson, Joshua Bafford.
He is survived by a sister-in-law; Deloris Knobloch, daughter Linda (James) Troyanek, eight grandchildren; Tim (Jill) Kellison, Toni (Kevin) Kuhse, Christine (Craig) McKinzie, Brian (Terri) Lamprech, Bruce Lamprech, Matt Vangen, Mark Vangen, Paula (Larry) Bafford, fifteen great grandchildren; Melissa (Ray) Lewis, Chad Kellison, Amber Borda, Krystle Kuhse, Steven McKinzie, Daniel Lamprech, Abigail Lamprech, Jennifer Lamprech, Kathryn Lamprech, Jeremiah (Joy) Vangen, Lucas (Tanya) Vangen, Rachel Vangen, Kaden McIntyre, Markus (Yvette) Vangen and Kristen Vangen, fourteen great-great grandchildren; Olivia Lewis, Liam Lewis, Ava Kellison, Marshall Borda, Isla-Victoria Reyes-Kuhse, Evelyn Vangen, Mya Vangen, Sydney Vangen, Ely Vangen, Angelica Kendhammer, Matthew Kendhammer, Drakken Vangen, Maggie Vangen, and James Bafford. He is further survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.
Graveside services will be held at the Stoddard Cemetery on Saturday, May 15, 2021 at 1:00 P.M. The family wishes to thank the staff at Prairie Home Assisted Living and Gundersen Health System Hospice team. Memorials may be directed to the Coulee Region Humane Society.
