James E. Kerrigan

James Edward Kerrigan, La Crosse, passed away  Saturday, September 2, 2017, at the age of 83.  He was born April 1, 1934 in La Crosse, WI to the late Bernard and Maleta Kerrigan of Hokah, MN.

He graduated from St Peter's School, Hokah, MN, attended UW-L and served in the Army.  Jim married Mary Lee Bye in 1963.   He started his career in retail in St Paul, MN, then resettled back in La Crosse, working as a dept. manager at K-Mart for 31 years, retiring in 1996. Jim enjoyed his retirement years traveling, especially by train, loved local festivals and biking throughout the area.  His greatest joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife Mary Lee of 54 years, four children; James of La Crosse, Christopher (Debra) of Portland, OR, Kate of Redmond, OR, and John (Teressa) of La Crosse; grandchildren, Madeline, Jack, Ava and Connor Mellor; his brother Thomas of Tucson, AZ, his sisters Jean Kihm of La Crosse and Mary Horning of Minneapolis, MN; sisters-in-law, Alys and Jean Kerrigan; many nieces and nephews and extended family. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Robert, William, Richard and Daniel (infant).

Visitation will be from 5:00 to 7:00 pm, Friday, September 8, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral Home, 200 West Ave S. in La Crosse. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at Holy Trinity Catholic Church, 1333 13th St S in La Crosse, on Saturday, September 9, at 10:30 am, Rev. Rick Roberts officiating, with a visitation one hour prior to the service.  Burial will follow in the Catholic Cemetery La Crosse. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Peter's Catholic School, Holy Trinity Church, or the Alzheimer's Association.
