James "Jim" B. Winder

James “Jim” B. Winder, age 80, of La Crosse, passed away on Monday, July 17, 2023, at Mulder Health Care Facility in West Salem. Jim was born in La Crosse on May 28, 1943, to William and Margaret Winder. He graduated from Logan High School and the University of Wisconsin – La Crosse. Jim served in the United States Air Force before returning to La Crosse to begin his career with Trane Co., which lasted for more than fifty years. He was a member of the VFW Post 1530, American Legion Post 52, and La Crosse Eagle’s Club.

Jim’s most joyous time was spent on his big red tractor mowing the grass at his beloved farm. He was an avid gun, car, and beer tap collector. He also loved NASCAR and attending races at the La Crosse Speedway.

Jim is survived by the love of his life, Trena; family, Carter (Aimee) Roth, and was Grandpa Jim to Adian and Mason Roth; he is further survived by his brother, Bob (Helen) Winder; sister, Ruth (Keith) Standley; and nephew, Jonathan (Jenna) Standley.

Jim was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret Winder; and former wife, Mary Winder.

A visitation will be held from 3:00 pm until 6:00 pm on Friday, July 21, 2023, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services of La Crosse, 200 West Ave. S., La Crosse, WI 54601.
