James E. Hutchinson

May 10, 1950 — April 12, 2018

James E. Hutchinson, 67 of rural La Crescent, Minn., passed away at his home on Thursday, April 12, 2018. He was born in Yakima, WA., on May 10, 1950 to William and Margaret (Dressler) Hutchinson. On October 16, 1979 he married Sandra J. Wiltse in Yakima.

Jim proudly served his country in the United States Army during the Viet Nam War from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1971. Jim will be remembered most as a loving husband, father, grandfather and uncle who enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, visiting the casinos and celebrating the 4 th of July with lots of fireworks.   He had spent most of his working life at Thern Inc. until his recent retirement.

In addition to his wife Sandi, he is survived by his daughter Crystal (Nick Yates) Hutchinson of Houston, Minn., son Ryan (Tena) Hutchinson of La Crescent, Minn., five grandchildren; Baily, Andrew, Chase, Oliver and Henry and two sisters Judy (Dennis) Hallingstad of French Island, Wis., and Jane (Roger) Schultz of North Bend, Wis. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother Donald.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held from 3 until 5 P.M. on Friday, April 20, 2018 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crescent chapel; 111 South Oak St. The evening will conclude with military honors being provided by Gittens Leidel American Legion Post 595 La Crescent.
