James Leonard Bennett

James Leonard Bennett died on Thursday, October 24, 2024 at the age of 95. He was born on February 13, 1929 in La Crosse to Leonard and Anastasia (Malay) Bennett. He attended Aquinas High School, UW-La Crosse, and then later attended UW-Madison. He joined the United States Marine Corps and married Rosemary Maule in 1953. At the time of his death, they had been married 71 years. Early in his life, Jim was a teacher of math and science. He then went to work for Prudential, selling life insurance and investments. He loved the farm, the river, hunting, art, and wood carving. 

He was preceded in death by his parents, a sister, Barbara Rowe, and a brother-in-law Ron Rowe. He leaves behind his wife Rosemary, his children, Kathy, Karen, Jeff and Mary, 12 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was greatly loved and respected and will be missed by all of us. 

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 at Crucifixion Catholic Church in La Crescent. Father John L. Evans, II will celebrate. Burial will follow in St. Joseph Convent Cemetery. A visitation and Rosary will be held at the church on Wednesday from 10:00 AM until the time of services.
