Jacqueline Lee Range

April 7, 1950 — May 22, 2022

Jacqueline “Jackie” Range (Freeman), age 72, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on Sunday, May 22 nd , 2022, at Gundersen Health System, La Crosse, surrounded by her family, after a short battle with ovarian cancer.

Jackie grew up in Brainerd, MN, with her parents, Jim and Ida Mae (Hines) Freeman, and her brother Greg. It was there that she met Jim Range, her husband of 54 years. The two started their lives together in Brainerd, moved to Minneapolis shortly after, eventually moving to La Crosse in 1981, where they raised their two daughters, Jody and Jenni. She worked at Gundersen Health System as a Pharmacy Technician for over 35 years, where she was so loved by staff and patients, retiring in June of 2017.

Jackie was known for her generous heart and wonderful sense of humor. She was always there for anyone who needed her. She enjoyed watching NASCAR on the weekends, and cheering on her beloved Vikings. When she was not working or cheering on one of her teams, Jackie enjoyed working with her plants and flowers or traveling to car shows in the hot rods that Jim built. She was also an animal lover, and often devoted time to feeding the ducks at Riverside Park. Jackie enjoyed reading and her visits to Barnes and Noble with her granddaughter.

But amongst all of the things that Jackie enjoyed, the greatest of all was the time spent with her family. A few of her favorite pastimes were fussing over her grandkids and making her famous snacks, French toast with warmed syrup, grilled cheese, brownies and the most sought-after cheesy potatoes.

Jackie is survived by her devoted husband Jim, two loving daughters, Jody (John) Audetat and Jennifer (Doug) Dwyer, her grandchildren Alexandra Audetat, Jacob Waller (Amanda), Storm Dwyer, Michael Dwyer, Roslynn (Audetat) Berkeland (Noah), Jesse Dwyer, Isabella Audetat, Maddison Dwyer, and Olivia Audetat. Her great-grandchildren Ava Waller, Logan Waller, Dayson Rudie, Peyton Dwyer, Graceland Waller, and Scout Berkeland. Her brother Greg Freeman (Debbie), sister-in-law Linda Burke, brother-in-law Don Range, cousin Kathy (Palmer) Martin (Vern), and nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents-Jim and Mae Freeman, parents-in-law-Bud and Delores Range.
