Jacob Jeffrey Kolb

February 20, 2015 — July 1, 2022

J acob Jeffrey Kolb

Jacob Kolb was born to Eric and Elizabeth Kolb on February 20, 2015 in Augusta, GA. He was born again of water and the Word in holy Baptism on March 1, 2015. When God placed his name on Jacob at his baptism, God gave Jacob the gift of faith through the renewing of the Holy Spirit (Ti 3:5) in the Sacrament. God washed his sins away (Ac 2:38) and gave him eternal life (Jn10:29) and salvation (1 Pe 3:21). Those promises were the foundation of Jacob’s life. They are the promises that carried him home to heaven on Friday, July 1, 2022.

Jacob was involved in a tragic accident on Friday afternoon, June 24 th when he suffered a serious head injury. Surgery was performed at the Gundersen Hospital in La Crosse. That same evening, he was airlifted to Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN where a second surgery was performed. Jacob’s injuries were so great that there was nothing more that medical science could do to help him. God already had a plan for Jacob to bring his child home to heaven.

We thank God for the many blessings Jacob brought into our lives for these past 7 years. He just finished 1st grade at St. Paul’s Lutheran school in Onalaska, WI.  He loved being with his friends, playing at recess and singing songs for Jesus. He had a zest for life that caused people young and old to marvel at his energy. Jacob loved everything about being outdoors and playing with his siblings.  He loved riding bikes, swimming, baseball, jumping on the trampoline, playing in snow, catching frogs and playing in the dirt. Jacob was one of the hardest working little boys and he especially loved to help his dad with chores. He enjoyed helping others, especially his little brother.  It didn’t matter what you asked him to do, he would pitch in and help in any way possible. That was true even in death. Jacob would be proud to know he helped others with the gift of life through organ donation.

His parents along with his siblings (Emma, Jaden, Addison and Lucas) and their extended family are grieving in the hope God has given in John 11:25-26, “ I am the resurrection and the life. He who believes in me will live, even though he dies; and whoever lives and believes in me will never die”.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, memorial gift may be directed to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, Onalaska, Wi.

Funeral services will be held at 11am on Friday, July 8, 2022 at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Onalaska. Pastor Shane Krause and Pastor Brett Ehlke will officiate. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Bangor.  Friends may call on the family Friday morning at the church from 10am until the time of services.
