Jack W. Yancey, 63, of La Crosse, passed away at his home on Monday, April 9, 2018.
Jack was born February 24, 1955, in La Crosse, to Hubert and Lillian (Privet) Yancey. He was raised in the La Crescent-Hokah area and was a graduate of La Crescent High School. On October 18, 1986, he married Linda Ann Myer at St. Peter’s Catholic Church in Hokah, Minn. Linda preceded him in death on January 31, 2015.
Earlier in his life, Jack worked for Frey’s Lumber in La Crescent and Northwest Hardwoods in Onalaska. For the past 25 years, he had been employed by DeBauche Truck & Diesel in La Crosse. Jack was a long-time devoted Packers fan and enjoyed listening to country music, camping and bowling.
He is survived by a son, Jason Myer; a sister, Mary (Steve) Wold of Neillsville, Wis.; his mother-in-law, Phyllis Myer of La Crosse; a brother-in-law, Dwain “J.R.” (Renae) Myer of La Crosse; sisters-in-law, Lynn Yancey of Arkansas, Kathy (Bill) Kelemen of La Crosse, and Jo Lynn Gagermeier of La Crosse; several nieces and nephews; numerous extended family members; and his faithful companion, Buster. In addition to his wife, Linda, he was also preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Jim Yancey; and his father-in-law, Dwain Myer, Sr.
Memorial services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Friday, April 13 th , at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Ave. So., La Crosse. Rev. Scott Skogen will officiate. Burial will follow in Onalaska City Cemetery. Family and friends may call from 5:00 until 7:00 p.m., Thursday, at the funeral home and again from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Friday.
