Irene D. Sitze

Irene D. Sitze, 100, of La Crosse, WI, passed away on Saturday, November 19, 2022, at Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center.

She was born on May 19, 1922, to Louis and Bertha Klinski, in Caledonia, MN.

Irene is survived by her son, Steven Sitze of La Crosse, WI, and his children, Kelly Wolf, Dawn Becker, and Clint Sitze; by her daughter, Patty Aston (Joe) of Caldwell, ID, and her children, Renee DuVander, Lura Lee Jaggers, and James Aston; as well as her son Rodney’s children, Coy Sitze, and Shelly Sitze.  She is also survived by nine great-grandchildren and ten great-great grandchildren.

Irene was proceeded in death by her parents; her husband, Coy Sitze; her son, Rodney Sitze; and her sister, Selma Carrier.

Irene married Coy Sitze on Christmas Eve, 1945.  Coy and Irene managed Goose Island campground for many years.  Irene worked various jobs over the years but the one she was most proud of was homemaker and grandma.  Irene loved to garden with her husband Coy and bake for her family.  She also loved a good game of double euchre and a rummage sale.

She was a life-long member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse.  Irene practiced her faith to the end and was ready to be with Coy in heaven.  She passed away into God’s arms on her half Birthday.  She said, “that will be a happy day”.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM, Tuesday, November 22, 2022, at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crosse.  Pastor Richard Pamperin will officiate.  A luncheon will immediately follow the funeral service in the church basement with graveside services following at Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.  Visitation will be held on Monday from 5:00-7:00 PM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 200 West Avenue South, La Crosse, and on Tuesday at the church from 10:00 AM until the time of the services.

The family would like to thank the wonderful care their mother and grand-mother received over the years at Eagle Crest, Hearten House, and Bethany-St. Joseph Care Center, as well as the therapists that worked with her for so many years.  They would also like to thank Pastor Pamperin, Vivian Norris, and the volunteers at First Ev. Lutheran Church.
