Howard J. Olson, 83 of La Crosse, passed away on Saturday, January 9, 2021. He was born August 28, 1937 in Westby, WI to Olaf and Mabel (Pederson) Olson. Howard proudly served his country in the United States Navy from 1955 until his honorable discharge in 1957.
On June 3, 1961 he married Anita Marx at Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Church in Cashton, WI. They enjoyed 59 ½ years of marriage. Howard worked for 34 years at the Trane Company in La Crosse. He was a member of Mary, Mother of the Church Men’s Club, the Knights of Columbus and the Trane 25-Year Club. He enjoyed family get togethers, deer and elk hunting, mowing lawns, snow removal, playing cards, traveling and time outdoors at the cabin. He also enjoyed selling raffle tickets for many charitable organizations. He was well known at the bi-annual MMOC chicken que.
In addition to his wife, Anita, he is survived by three sons; Mark Olson of Hammond, WI, Wayne (Tiffany) Olson and Todd (Jennie) Olson both of La Crosse; a daughter, Kathleen (Dave) LaBeause of Hammond, WI; 11 grandchildren, Christopher, Zachary, Kourtney, Blake, Garrett, Colby, Skylar, William, David, Devon and Danielle; 6 great-grandchildren, Kendahl, Charlotte, Jackson, Wyatt, Camryn and Cylas; two sisters, Mae Jacobson of Westby and Lillian (Ken) Leis of Madison; a brother, Fred (Irene) Olson of Westby; and a sister-in-law, Beatrice Olson of Westby, along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; a sister, Ordella Olson and a brother, Alden Olson and a brother-in-law, Ken Jacobson.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, January 15 th at Mary, Mother of the Church Parish, 2006 Weston St., La Crosse with Rev. Brian D. Konopa officiating. Visitation will be from 9:30 am until the time of the service. Military honors will take place immediately following the Mass. Burial will be in Mormon Coulee Memorial Park Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions be made to Mary, Mother of the Church Building Fund.
