Henry E Leibl 90, passed away Friday January 20th at Eagle Crest South. He was born May 6, 1932 at home in Smith Valley to Henry and Marie (Liebl) Leibl. He married Janice Olson on February 13, 1960, she preceded him in death on March 14, 2002. He married La Vonne Brauer on November 26, 2005, she preceded him in death on December 18, 2015.
Henry graduated from Holmen High School in 1950 or as he would refer to it, The Golden Class of 1950. He was drafted in the Army during the Korean war spending his tour in Germany. Some of his fondest memories are of his time he was able to spend seeing Germany and Rome. He loved to tell stories about all he saw while he was over in Europe. He worked for the La Crosse Telephone Company and Northwestern Telephone as a purchasing agent until his retirement.
Henry was a very active volunteer at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church and School, Luther High School and The Good Steward Resale Store. He headed up major building projects for these organizations. He loved watching his children and grandchildren in all their sporting and music activities. He could be found on the sideline cheering with his megaphone. He was a kind, gentle, christian man who loved to share stories, help those in need, and talk with you as a dear friend.
He is survived by his children, Mary Warnecke, Sue (Todd) Greene, Kristine (David) Schneider, and David (Cathy) Leibl. His stepchildren, Jeff Brauer, Julie Ramos, and Bill (Sandy) Brauer and their families. His grandchildren, Bethany (Brad) Gurgel, Darin (Jenna) Warnecke, Philip (Staci) Warnecke, Adam Greene, Andrew (Bana Henthorn) Greene, Mikel Schneider, Matthew (Ivy) Schneider, Benjamin (Heidi) Leibl, Jacob Leibl, Joseph (Sarah Fitzgerald) Leibl and 8 great grandchildren. Brothers, Carl (Alvera) Leibl, Ronald (Helen) Leibl, sister, Barbara Moe and many nieces and nephews. Special friends Coral, Kendra and Avi.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wives, an infant son Joseph, son-in-law Rodney Warnecke, sisters Delores Hole and Katherine Stasiak, brothers-in-law Alden Moe and Gordon Stasiak.
We want to thank all the staff at Eagle Crest South for your wonderful care you provided to Dad. So many of you were so very caring to him each and every day.
Funeral Services will be held on Friday January 27 at 11:00 am at Mt Calvary Lutheran Church, 1602 Park Ave, La Crosse. Friends may call at the church on Thursday from 4:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Friday from 10:00 until the time of services. Memorials my be given to Mt Calvary Ev Lutheran Church, Mount Calvary Grace Lutheran School or Luther High School.
