Henry “Hank” Oehmigen, 88, of rural La Crescent, MN, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2023 at Bethany Riverside in La Crosse. He was born on August 26, 1934 in Keokuk, IA to Lawrence and Catherine (Grunewald) Oehmigen. Hank graduated from Hamilton High School in Hamilton, IL. He joined the Naval Air Force and travelled to Africa, England, Spain, Gibraltar, and New Foundland. After serving in the Naval Air Force he moved to Minneapolis, working as a city bus driver. He then moved to Chicago and drove tour buses for Greyhound. Hank moved back to Minneapolis, working in the service and repair of industrial equipment. He was transferred to the Hokah area in 1974 and lived in Hokah until he married Kay (Langen) McKenzie on January 12, 1980, then moving to Pfeffer Valley. Hank ended his working career at Holiday Inn, La Crosse in Maintenance.
Hank enjoyed riding his Harley, collecting guns and antiques, and going to auctions and gun shows. He was a member of the NRA. He was previously on the Hokah Volunteer Fire Department and a member of the Hokah Lions Club.
He is survived by his wife Kay, their children Amy (Sam) Fattig and Dan (Rhonda) Oehmigen, grandchildren, Dylan and Levi Graves and Felicity and Dominic Oehmigen, and his sister Marilyn Danico of Peabody, MA and her children and grandchildren. Hank was preceded in death by his parents and his in-laws, Rudy and Violet Langen.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at 11:00 AM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church, Hokah, MN. A visitation will be held on Friday, May 26 th from 4:00 – 7:00 PM at St. Peter’s Catholic Church and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to St. Peter’s Church and School.
