Henry "Hank" Buehler

January 26, 1938 — June 22, 2022

On June 22, 2022, our loving husband, dad, grandpa, and great grandpa “Bapa”, went to his eternal home. Hank was surrounded by his loving wife and family as he took his last journey.

Hank was born in La Crescent, MN on January 26, 1938, to Henry and Bernetta (Baumgartner) Buehler. Hank farmed with his father from the time he was a little boy until his high school graduation. He attended a one room schoolhouse for eight years, Aquinas and then graduated from Central High School. He then entered the Navy/Naval Reserves from 1959-1963.

Hank worked for The Rubber Mills/La Crosse Footwear for 43 years until retirement in March of 2001, part time for North American Moving Company for 18 years, and Onalaska/Holmen Transit for 13 years until he was finally RETIRED!

Hank married the love of his life, Ruth Ann Lorenz on June 22, 1963, in Winona, MN, they were married for 59 years. Together, Hank and Ruth lived and raised their one daughter and three sons in Onalaska.

Hank and Ruth enjoyed their many travels including trips out west, cruises to the Caribbean and Alaska, trips to Germany and Hawaii with their “Hawaiian Cousins.”  Hank also loved hunting with his sons and special friends Bob and Roger. He always looked forward to his Canadian fishing trips with his sons, son-in-law, and grandsons. Hank was always proud of his vegetable garden and lawn. While working at La Crosse Footwear, he was involved in the many facets of the La Crosse Footwear Credit Union.

Hank is survived by his loving wife, Ruth; daughter, Julie (Bob) Lawrence of La Crosse and their three children, Rachel (Aaron) Erdmann, Steve (Rachel) and Tyler (Nikki) Lawrence; sons, Robert (Lynette) of Rice Lake and their three children, Kayla (Aaron) Prohvnick, Ben and Cody Buehler; Brent (Lisa) of Omro, WI and their two daughters, Olivia (Brad) Ertmer and Casey Jo (Michael Peters) Buehler; Kent of Sparta and his daughter, Lindsey. Hank is also the very proud great grandpa “Bapa” of 13 great grandchildren. Hank is also survived by his brother, Bernie (Rosanne) Buehler of La Crescent, MN and a sister, JoAnn (Jim) Boyer of Billings, MT; brother-in-law, Jack (Twila) Lorenz of Winona, MN and sister-in-law, Kathleen (Mark) LaPlant of Green Bay, along with many nieces and nephews. Hank was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Bernetta Buehler, sister, Margaret Foellmi, mother and father-in-law, Avenelle and Robert Lorenz, and brothers-in-law, Robert Lorenz, and Charles Lorenz.
