Helen J Ciano, 84, of La Crosse passed away Sunday, April 1, 2018, at the Polidori House of Lake Havasu City, Arizona. She was born August 26, 1933, in St Paul, MN to Charles and Bertha (Bowser) Baumann. On December 8 th , 1952, she was married to Donald D Ciano, Sr.
As a teenager she worked at the MN Twins stadium, and also the famous “Mickey’s” in downtown St Paul. Helen retired from the Department of Motor Vehicles in La Crosse after 25 years. During Desert Storm she was extremely involved in S.O.C.M. Military Support Group made up by Mothers of Deployed Service Men and Women.
In her spared time, she enjoyed reading, crosswords, word searches, Sudoku, and BINGO, but her passion and something she passed down to her children was her love of cooking. Don’t ask for a recipe they were all memorized.
Other talents Helen had was her love of ceramics, she made numerous pieces over the years. Another talent was crocheting. She truly enjoyed sitting back on a Sunday afternoon watching the Packers and crocheting an afghan for her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
She is survived by her six children, Donald Jr. (Kris) Ciano of La Crosse, Marie (Larry) Falk of Poynette, Wi, Angela Ellefson (Warren Neumann) of La Crosse, Dan Ciano (Cheryl Ray) of Madison, Wi, Leslie Sejut (Mother of Nicole and Amanda) of Franklin, Wi , David Ciano of La Crosse, and Daryl (April) Ciano of Lake Havasu City, AZ; 10 grandchildren, Tara (David), Tony (Mary), Donna (Greg), Wayne Jr, Nicole (Casey), Amanda, Megan (Ken), Teresa, Brian, and T’anne; 12 great- grandchildren, Kim, Cody, Chase, Cadyn, Ruthy, Damian, Darion, David, Kam, Owen, Addison, and Lucas; 1 great-great grandchild, Roman; one brother, Tom Spurrier of White Bear Lake, MN, and her special companion Muffin. She was proceeded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters, two brothers, and great-grandson
Funeral Services will be held on Saturday, April 7, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Schumacher-Kish Funeral & Cremation Services of La Crosse. Rev. Martin Yeager will officiate. Burial will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery. A viewing for family and friends will be held at the funeral home on Friday from 5:00 – 7:00 PM and again on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the time of services. In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred
