Hazel James Merrill

Hazel James Merrill, infant daughter of Jake and Abby Merrill, passed away peacefully in her parents arms on October 17th, 2020. She was born October 8th, 2020 at Meriter Hospital in Madison, WI.

In addition to her parents, Hazel is survived by her loving big sister Nora and family dog Armour; her grandparents, Alan and Jani Carlon, Jeff and Theresa Merrill; great grandmothers, Becky Theis, Beverly Merrill; and aunt and uncle Alex and Morgann Carlon; along with a host of other family and friends.

Hazel was preceded in death by her great grandparents Jim Theis, Charles and Dorothy Carlon, Lee Merrill, Julius and Marcella Lehmann.

Her parents would like to thank the amazing staff in the Pediatric Intensive Care Unit at American Family Children’s Hospital for the extraordinary care they received. A special thank you to Lynne (NP) and Danielle (RN) who will always be incredibly special people to the family. While her parents are heartbroken at the loss of their daughter, they are thankful and will forever cherish the time they had with Hazel.

A private graveside service will take place for immediate family on Thursday October 29th, 2020 in Onalaska, WI. In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting memorials in Hazel’s honor. These will support the American Family Children’s Hospital and the Ronald McDonald House of Madison, both of which are organizations that had a tremendous positive impact on the family during a difficult time.
