Harry C. Bolstad

August 23, 1932 — December 22, 2020

Harry Bolstad, 88, left his earthly home due to viral pneumonia at Gundersen Health System, was in a Hospice room the last 4 days. He was born August 23, 1932, to John and Sophie (Yttri) Bolstad in Viroqua. He graduated in 1950 from Viroqua High School and started at the Trane Company in 1951 to 1993, from a Centravac Plant to Centravac Marketing. 1952 to 1954, was drafted in the Army and served in the Korean War. Married Ardis Volden June 30, 1956 and had 64 years of Church fellowship and serving, trips to Norway and Arizona plus shared our love for music. Our daughter stated: “He believed in walking the talk” of his Church and his faith. He was always thinking of others and loved calling family and friends to know how they were doing. Harry was a natural leader and loved to serve: was a president of Our Savior’s Lutheran Church – a chairman of Social Ministry when they in 1996 started serving Come for Supper meals and they are still going today with very dedicated Church Volunteers. Was a president of the Sognefjordlag with members interested in that area of Norway. Harry’s father immigrated from there, alone, in 1923 at age of 25 and he joined an older brother here in the Viroqua area. We were able to make 5 trips to this beautiful home area of his father’s, north of Bergen. Harry was a president of the UW-L Quarterback Club and was asked to announce for the home games of UW-L football games then also for the men’s basketball games. He loved sports, especially the Packers and the UW Badger football and basketball games.   Survivors are his wife, sons, Mark and Scott, daughter, Kristine Eickhoff, grand-daughter, Cassi Eickhoff, brother, David (Maryann) Bolstad, sister, Susie Bolstad, sisters-in-law Shirley Bolstad and Yvonne Bolstad, brother-in-law Francis Volden and many nieces and nephews.
