Harland Laroy Hockenbery

Harland “Harley” ”Hock” LaRoy Hockenbery, 88, of Onalaska passed away Monday March 25, 2019 at his home.

Harley was born November 23, 1930 to Ellman and Deloris (Romlow) Hockenbery on the family farm in Grant Township, Monroe County. He attended primary school in the town of Grant, High School at Tomah, and in 1951 graduated night school from Logan High School in La Crosse.

On November 15 th , 1952 Harley married Gladys Pischke. They were married until the time of her death on May 1 st , 2000. On July 4 th ,2010, Harley was remarried to his best friend Nancy Netzer.

Harley worked for Trane Company in La Crosse for 34 years. After taking early retirement, he was called to help the then “New” Multistack in West Salem where he retired for a second time after 20 years with them. =m

Throughout his life Harley was an avid Camper, Bowler and Gardener. Some of his favorite times were spent at the La Crosse Speedway, watching his La Crosse Loggers and his many deer hunting seasons with his son and grandson.

Harley is survived by his wife Nancy of Onalaska. Son Steven (Lynn), Daughter Vicky (Rod) Keenan both of La Crosse and Daughter Stephany Hughes of Oakdale Wi. Grandchildren Marsha Wohlwend (Kari Haun) of Onalaska, Melissa (Joe) Racicot of Holmen, Justin and Brandon Hockenbery of La Crosse and Chalsee (Garret) Gaul of Black River Falls, and Krystal Keenan of La Crosse. Great Grandchildren, James Siber, Gavin and Jase Fladhammer, Sawyer and Eden Gaul, Riley Oelfke and Anthony Borman. Brother Gordon (Beverly) Hockenbery of Onalaska and Sister Helen of Houston MN, and his childhood best friend Claire Thompson.

Harley is further survived by his step children Randy and Jeff (Teresa) Netzer, Diane (Kevin) Koller and Nancy (Greg) Gager.9 Step Grandchildren and 3 Step Great Grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his first wife Gladys. His Parents, Sister Rhyta Braggins, Brother in Law Hugh Rediske, Son in law Ellis (Buck) Hughes and Nephew Vernon Rediske.

A memorial gathering for family and friends will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 from 11am until 2pm at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services Onalaska chapel; 907 Sand Lake Rd.
