Glenn Robert Lussky

July 26, 1958 — January 31, 2023

On January 31, 2023, God called Glenn Robert Lussky, 64, beloved husband, father, grandfather, and friend, to his heavenly rest. Glenn was born on July 26, 1958, in Minneapolis, MN, to Frederic and Doris (Engebrecht) Lussky. He was baptized on August 10, 1958, at Redemption Lutheran Church in Bloomington, MN, and was confirmed there in 1972.

Glenn graduated from Minneapolis Lutheran High School, attended Bethany Lutheran College and the University of Minnesota, and completed his B.S. and M.S. in atmospheric science at UW-Madison. He spent his career with the National Weather Service, working at offices in Salt Lake City, UT;  Norman, OK; Minneapolis, MN; and La Crosse, WI. From 1995-2017 he served as the Meteorologist in Charge at the NWS office in La Crosse. Throughout his career Glenn also contributed over forty publications to his field.

In 1983 he married Rebecca Madson, and they were blessed with three children, Kristin, Karyn, and Ryan. Glenn relished sports and music; he loved being involved in his kids’ activities as a coach, spectator, and karaoke partner. His varied interests included fishing, gardening, golfing, and gourmet cooking/wine pairing. The whole family savored their time together at Dunn Lake, where Glenn made countless trips around the lake towing squealing grandkids. He was able to retire early in 2017 to enjoy quality time with and care for Becky before she died of ovarian cancer in 2018.

In 2020 God blessed Glenn with another loving bride, Carolyn Graham. Together they enjoyed traveling between their homes in Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Florida, as well as visiting their collective 27 grandchildren.

Glenn’s faith in his Savior was reflected in the various ways he served his church and Lutheran schools. He sat on many boards at church, enjoyed playing his baritone and singing for special services, and volunteered his time with athletics at both St. Paul’s and Luther High School.

Glenn was preceded in death by his first wife Rebecca (Madson), mother Doris, sister Marilyn, father- and mother-in-law Norman and Amanda Madson, and father-in-law Siebert Steck.

Glenn is survived by wife Carolyn Graham; children Kristin Faugstad (Peter), Karyn Lukasek (Michael), Ryan Lussky (Amanda); step-children Stephanie Anderson (Kyle), Michael Graham (Beth), and Nathaniel Graham (Heidi); grandchildren Marit, Greta, James, Nels, Paul, and John Faugstad; Isaac, Matthias, Abel, Elsiana, and Friedrich Lukasek; Wesley and Bryce Brown; step-grandchildren Hadley, Piper, and Bryndel Anderson; Brooklyn, Jeremiah, Savannah, and Asher Graham; Jeshua, Lucan, Lillah, and Hollyn Botsford; Kenzie, Cylas, and Nolan Graham; father Frederic, sister Barbara, brother Steven; and mother-in-law Joan Steck.

Visitation will be held at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church at 1201 Main St. in Onalaska, WI, on Friday, February 3, from 4-7 p.m. The funeral will be at St. Paul’s on Saturday, February 4, at 11:00 a.m., with visitation one hour prior. Committal and luncheon will immediately follow the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Luther High School, and Bethany Lutheran College.
