Glen Marlen Klankowski, 78, of La Crescent, passed away on Thursday, June 28, 2018, at the La Crescent Healthcare Center.
He was born in Spring Grove, Minn., on August 2, 1939, to Herman and Maria (Jahn) Klankowski. He married Mary Kay Schieber on November 19, 1972, at St. John’s Ev. Lutheran Church in Caledonia. Mary Kay preceded him in death on July 28, 2010.
Glen was a hard working, fun loving family man. He worked as a mechanic for Gateway Foods and Fleming for many years until his retirement and he loved family gatherings and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his children, Jesse Klankowski of Minneapolis, Minn., and Angel Klankowski, Rebecca Klankowski and Steven Klankowski all of La Crescent; his siblings, Gordon (Doris) Klankowski, Alice Klankowski, Betty (Pete) Esch and Earl (Holly) Klankowski, all of Caledonia, Karl (Barb) Klankowski of San Diego, Cal., and Cleo Ostrander of New York, N.Y., and many nieces, nephews and other extended family members. In addition to his wife, Mary Kay, Glen was also preceded in death by his parents and a brother, Dean Klankowski.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, July 3 rd , at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church, 1201 Main St., Onalaska. Pastor Daniel Olson will officiate. Burial will take place in Evergreen Cemetery in Caledonia. Visitation will be held from 4:30 until 7:00 p.m., Monday, at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services, 111 So. Oak St., La Crescent, and also from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service on Tuesday at the church. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be given to the Building Fund at St. Paul’s Ev. Lutheran Church.
