Gilbert W. "Gib" Vredeveld

Gilbert W. “Gib” Vredeveld, 84 of La Crosse, WI., and formerly of Randolph, WI., died on Sunday, December 5, 2021 at Eagle Crest South in La Crosse. He was born in Randolph, WI., on February 5, 1937 to Henry and Elizabeth (Halbersma) Vredeveld. Gib had proudly served his country in the United States Army over in Germany from 1956 until 1958 where he got to “play with tanks”. On April 26, 1958 he married Janet Aellig in Beaver Dam, WI. Gib had worked for Rueping Leather Co., Bussee Bros., Chrysler Marine and finally Bussee Bros. again until his retirement. He and Janet were fortunate enough to spend 19 years at Superstition Sunrise RV park in Apache Junction AZ. where he loved to play Euchre and shuffleboard. In his free time he enjoyed deer, pheasant and squirrel hunting along with fishing. He enjoyed many years of attending Green Bay Packer games as a season ticket holder and also enjoyed camping with the kids. In addition to his wife Janet he is survived by his two daughters Kathy Eggen of La Crosse, Julie Rogers of Pearl, MS., one son Gary (Cindy) Vredeveld of Beaver Dam, eight grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by three brothers Henry, Lawrence and Jim and one sister Betty Eggert. In keeping with Gib’s wishes, there will be no services and private family burial will take place at a later date in the Randolph Cemetery. The family wishes to thank the staff at Gundersen Health System Hospice for the care they provided to Gib in his final days. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to their organization.
