Gerald M. “Jerry” Sheehan, 79, passed away surrounded by family on December 16, 2024, at Mayo Clinic Health System in La Crosse. He was born on May 7, 1945, in La Crosse to Milton and Wilma (Bohonek) Sheehan and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1963.
Jerry attended University of Wisconsin – La Crosse and graduated in 1967 with degrees in English and History. He continued his education at the University of Iowa College of Law, graduating in 1972.
During his service in the U.S. Army, Jerry met the love of his life, Michelle, and together they shared 53 years of marriage.
Jerry began his law career in private practice in Green Bay but soon found his way back to La Crosse to focus on estate planning. For 31 years, he served as a trust attorney at what is now known as Trust Point, offering his expertise and guidance to countless clients and colleagues until retiring in 2006.
Jerry was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend. Despite facing significant health challenges, he approached life with resilience, a positive outlook, and a deep appreciation for the people around him. Jerry treasured time with family and friends, enjoyed watching sports, especially the Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers, spending time at the cottage, and sneaking treats to his two beloved dogs.
He is survived by his wife, Michelle Sheehan; three children, Kathryn (Ryan) McAndrew, Chris Sheehan, and Kelly Sheehan; two grandchildren, Connor and Quinn McAndrew; a sister, Sue Powers; and brother-in-law, Daniel (Janice) Sheier, as well as many other family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Milton and Wilma Sheehan; two sisters, Rita Hafner Gallagher and Elaine Sheehan; and his brother-in-law, Michael Powers.
Jerry’s family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to his Mayo Clinic care team and the many caregivers who supported him throughout the years.
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, December 27, 2024, at Mary, Mother of the Church in La Crosse. Visitation will be held at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Entombment will be at the Mormon Coulee Memorial Park.
