George Gale Oehrle

September 21, 1960 — November 3, 2018

On November 3, 2018 Jesus called George to rest peacefully in his loving and forgiving arms.
George Gale Oehrle was born in La Crosse WI on September 21, 1960 to George C and Dorothy Oehrle. He was the baby of the family and his parents’ pride and joy. This title was often a subject of debate with his older sister Joanne as to who was #1 in their self-appointed lineage. George grew up and continued to live in La Crosse. He followed his fathers’ footsteps to Trane Company and shared a true work ethic with his father. Never did he turn down overtime and called in sick only once in his 39 years there. George always showed up ready to do what it would take, in all he was a true blessing to Trane Company for those 39 years. George was a man of many talents. There was no home repair or project that he couldn’t figure out. If he didn’t know how to do something, he would do his research and find the answers. He was blessed with the ability to see the vision in his mind and bring it to life, something Robin could never do! George was an amazing provider for his family. The Oehrle home became a gathering place for Clayton and his basketball friends from college. There was big Tuesday night dinners and the kids all loved spending time with ‘Jorge’. Savanna didn’t have a single friend without memories of late-night drinks, stories, and laughs with George. He was the father that made sure everyone knew they could always call if they needed a ride home or a place to go. Many of Savanna and Clayton’s friends became family because of how amazing George and Robin treated them anytime they would walk through the door. Savanna will never forget how often she was told she had “the best parents ever.”
One of Georges’ passions was being in the outdoors. He enjoyed Hiking, 4-Wheeling, Fishing, but most of all hunting. George loved to be out hunting everything from ducks and geese to Black Bear and Whitetail, and he has the trophy room to prove it. George always boasted that he has shot at least 1 buck every year of his life except for one, and that was just “because he didn’t want to.” George shared many of these great times with his son Clayton and passed his love of the outdoors and hunting down to him. Savanna always took a hard pass on his many offers to take her out hunting, she was and still is his little girly-girl, and “blaze orange really isn’t my color, Dad.”
George and Robin (Mumm) were united in marriage on April 26, 1986. Together they became parents to Savanna (Ronny Eremija) and Clayton (Anna) Oehrle and their “bonus son” son Nicholas Perkins. In the past few years their family has grown with the wonderful blessings of grandsons Miles Hendrix Eremija, Jamison George Oehrle, Jaxon Perkins and a beautiful baby girl Ashtyn Irene Oehrle. George could not have been prouder of his role as a grandfather/papa to these amazing children. They along with his wife, daughter and sons were his greatest joys. He was a proud man, at times fearful and other times courageous, stepping out of his comfort zone for the sake of his family and career. George was registered on the organ donor registry and was able to give life to many others in his last moments. His family is beyond proud of him for registering as a donor. George will truly live on.
George is survived by his wife Robin, children, Savanna Oehrle (Ronny Eremija) and Clayton (Anna) Oehrle, Nicholas Perkins, grandchildren, Miles, Jamison, Jaxon, and Ashtyn. He is further survived by his siblings Roger (Sheryl) Smith, Larry (Jean) Smith, Dwaine (Barbara) Smith, Betty (Archie) Sherry, Ronald (Karen) Smith, Carol Middleton, and Joanne (Ken) Maurer. He is also survived by his father-in-law James (Gail) Mumm, Sister and Brother in-laws, Heidi (Henry) Befeler, Shawn (William) Woodman, Peter (Tamara) Mumm, Jonathan (Sarah) Mumm, and Amber (Dennis) Moore, along with many wonderful nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents George and Dorothy and his mother in-law Dianne Mumm.
