George Edward Haug, aka Jammin' George, 53 of La Crosse passed away peacefully on the morning of July 19, 2017.
George is the son of Dr. Stephen and Rose Mary (Fitzpatrick) Haug. He was born on January 1, 1964 in Iowa City, Iowa. He attended St. Thomas More grade school and was a graduate of Aquinas High School.
George was very creative. He had a great eye for photography and enjoyed writing. He produced a zine called the "The Jam Review" that was available in record stores around the La Crosse area. In this publication, he shared his unique views on music, food, the good life and other things that captured his attention. George enjoyed performing comedy and impersonations at local clubs such as The Root Note and the Popcorn Tavern. He offered a sometimes surreal version of cultural heroes that captured his interest. He also enjoyed producing videos of his comedy for YouTube. George worked at the Sweet Shop for 13 years. He was an avid sports fan and loved the Green Bay Packers, the Chicago Cubs, Los Angeles Lakers and the Golden State Warriors.
George was very generous and helpful to others. He loved family and family traditions.
George will be greatly missed by his mother, Rose Mary; his brothers and sisters, Michaela Bisanz, Ann Olund (Craig), Matt Haug and Jim Haug, nieces and nephews Allie Schoeppner, Claire, Stephanie and Matt Bisanz and Nick and Sophie Olund and his girlfriend Teresa Kocimski. He was preceded in death by his father and grandparents.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:30 A.M. Monday; July 24 th at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church. Rev. Peter Raj will officiate. Entombment will follow in St. Joseph Mausoleum, Catholic Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Monday from 10:30 A.M. until the time of Mass.
