Gary Alois Servais

August 17, 1944 — February 7, 2018

Gary Alois Servais, 73, of Chandler, Arizona passed away at his home on February 7, 2018 with his family at his side. He was born in La Crosse, WI, on August 17, 1944 to Roy and Marie Servais. In 1962, he graduated from La Crosse Aquinas High School. He married his wife of 51 years, Theresa (Hammes) Servais, in 1966. Gary worked on the family farm until 1967 when he started his career with Goodyear Tire & Rubber Company. He retired from Goodyear in 1993 at which time he was Store Manager at the location in downtown La Crosse. In 1997 Gary and Theresa moved to Chandler, AZ where they enjoyed living in warm sunny weather and making new friends.

Gary was an avid sports fan. While living in La Crosse, he enjoyed playing softball, golfing, and bowling with good friends. Gary also had fond memories of fishing trips in Canada as well as road trips to Green Bay and Milwaukee to watch the Packers and the Brewers. He remained a devoted Packer Fan throughout his entire life. During his retirement, he liked to travel, play the horses, and play cards but mostly he enjoyed spending time with his family who he loved dearly and of whom he was extremely proud. While living in Chandler, he enjoyed visiting family in Durango, Colorado where he loved taking in the sights of the mountains and even went rafting down the Animas river during one of his visits. In Arizona, he spent much of his time attending activities for his granddaughters. From volleyball matches and basketball games to piano recitals and play performances, he rarely missed an opportunity to show his love and support of his grandchildren.

Gary is most remembered by his family for his unconditional love and support and his service to others. Whether a neighbor, a friend, or a store manager, he never hesitated to help friends and family in any way that he could.

Gary is survived by his wife Theresa, daughters Lisa (Corey) Nielsen of Durango, CO, and Kimberly (George) Skemp of Fountain Hills, AZ, and son Mark Servais of Durango, CO. He will be dearly missed by his granddaughters Jessica and Lauren Skemp of Fountain Hills, AZ. Gary is also survived by sisters Marilyn Marx and Patricia Stuber, brothers Donald (Marie) and Dennis Servais, sister-in-law Loretta Servais, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his infant twin sons, parents, brother Jerome Servais, brother-in-law Eugene Marx, and sister-in-law Nancy Servais.
