Frank G. Baures

Frank G. Baures, 67, of Onalaska, passed away on Thursday April 18, 2019 at Gundersen Health System in Boscobel, WI. He was born on May 11, 1951 in Arcadia, Wisconsin to George H. and Antoinette S. (Grulkowski) Baures. He grew up in Winona, MN attending Cotter High School and graduated from Winona State University with a degree in Education in 1973. He later obtained his graduate degree in Business Management in 1975, also from Winona State. Throughout college he ran for the Men's Track and Field team. While in college, he met and married Nan E. Palmer on May 26, 1973.  They were blessed to be married for 45 years. He retired from the County of La Crosse Finance Department in 2016 after 30+ years of service.  Frank was an avid hunter of deer, turkey, pheasant, elk, and many others.  He so very much enjoyed to travel to many states and areas to hunt.  He also enjoyed nature, spending many hours planting, cultivating, and viewing his wildflower garden on his hobby farm. His great joy was spending time with his children and grandchildren. Since his retirement, Frank and Nan have enjoyed spending winters in Florida. Most recently he enjoyed a trip to Disney World with his family. He was a beloved father and grandfather and also a humble and wonderful friend to many.

In addition to his wife Nan, Frank is survived by two daughters; Andrea (Jeremy) Stocke, Laura (Scott) Schinke, his grandchildren Dylan (12), Hannah (11), Reagan (10), Luke (7), and Isaiah (7), his siblings Margaret Ann, Rosemary (Shaun), Joseph, Mary Beth, and George, his brothers-in-law Mark (Kathleen) Palmer and Donald (Jill) Palmer as well as many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, George and Antoinette Baures, as well as many loved aunts and uncles.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, April 26, 2019 at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, 1031 Main St., Onalaska. Msgr. Steven Kachel will officiate. Private burial will take place in the Onalaska City Cemetery at a later date. Visitation will be held at the church on Friday from 10 AM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
