Florence L. Bateman

Florence L. Bateman, 96 of La Crescent, Mn passed away at the Springbrook Village in La Crescent on Saturday, June 20, 2020. She was born in Winona County, MN on January 9, 1924 to Emil and Emma (Groth) Neumann.

On October 14, 1943 she married Lyle I. Bateman in Ridgeway, MN and he preceded her in death on November 1, 2013. Florence had worked as a bookkeeper for Bateman Brothers Construction for several years. She was an active member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crescent as well as volunteering at Gundersen Health System for over 25 years. Florence loved growing roses and also enjoyed baking and cooking.

Florence is survived by two sons; Jim (Diane) Bateman of La Crescent and David (Gina) Bateman of Plymouth, MN; four grandchildren, Mark (Christy) Bateman, Jodi (James) Gibbons, Matthew (Shelby) Bateman and Peter (Katrina) Bateman; five great-grandchildren, Greg and Emma Gibbons, Christian and Ayren Bateman and Charlotte Bateman. In addition to her husband Lyle, she was preceded in death by her parents, two sisters, Della Neumann and Dorothy Hogden and one brother, Robert Neumann.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, June 27 ^th at First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crescent with Pastor Mark Rieke officiating. Burial will follow in Hiler Cemetery, Nodine. Visitation for family and friends will be held at the church on Saturday from Noon until the time of services. In lieu of flowers memorials may be given to First Ev. Lutheran Church, La Crescent, Luther High School or Hiler Cemetery Association.
