Floreene K. Montgomery

Floreene “Flo” K. Montgomery, 96 passed away peacefully on Friday, September 15, 2017 at the Hillview Healthcare Center.

Flo was born and raised in La Crosse on August 16, 1921 to Archie and Therese (Banasik) Montgomery. She attended Holy Cross Grade School and graduated from Aquinas High School in 1949. She had worked at the Electric-Auto Lite until its closing and then worked in Advertising at the La Crosse Tribune until her retirement where past coworkers described her as having an outrageous sense of humor.

Flo was an avid traveler some of her favorite memories were in Poland, Germany, and Switzerland. Besides traveling she loved hosting social events, dancing with her best friend Evie Bautsch, watching the Packers and Badgers, and was very active with her faith at Holy Trinity Catholic Church. Flo treasured her family and had a heart of gold. She was someone who loved life and lived it well until the end.

Flo is survived by a niece; Jordan Just-Storandt; a great-niece Devon Just-Lasko and three great great nephews, Coltyn, Hudsyn, and Kashtyn who Flo loved deeply. She was proceeded in her death by her parents; a sister and brother-in-law, Barbara (Julius) Lelaurin.

The family would like to thank the staff at Hillview Healthcare in La Crosse, where Flo was a resident.

Private family services will be held at a later date with burial to take place in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse.
