Evelyn P. Harpstreith

Evelyn P. Harpstreith, 97, of La Crosse, died peacefully in her sleep Sunday, March 31, 2019, at Bethany St Joseph Care Center. Born October 28, 1921, in rural Eitzen, MN, she is predeceased by her parents, Peter and Hannah (Gran) Nelson of Caledonia, MN, her late husband of 49 years, Leo J. Harpstreith, daughter-in-law Pat Nelson, grandson, Steve Nelson, one brother, Bill Nelson and one sister, Clarissa Klinski.

Evelyn worked many years at St. Francis Hospital making many friends; she enjoyed working at the hospital so much she volunteered in retirement. She loved to garden and spent most of her free time in her yard. Evelyn had many pets over the years and treated them like children; she could be seen walking her dog through the neighborhood daily.

Evelyn is survived by four sons, Neil of Milwaukee, Leo (Deanna), Terry (Phyllis) of La Crosse, Ted (Mercy) of Trempealeau, one daughter, Sandy Davis (Bruce) of Stoddard, four grandchildren, eight great grandchildren, one sister, Arleen Baker and a number of nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Friday, April 5, 2019 at Schumacher-Kish Funeral and Cremation Services La Crosse chapel; 200 West Ave. So. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery. Friends may call on the family Friday morning from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services.
