Erin Ione Mathews (Dunlap), 26, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, November 8, 2018, of a pulmonary embolism. She was born on June 4, 1992, in Elmira, NY. Erin married Ryan Mathews on September 8, 2018. She is the daughter of Shawn and Michelle (Sierzant) Dunlap.
Erin graduated from La Crescent High School in 2010. She received her Bachelor’s Degree from South Dakota State University in 2014 and graduated from the Physician Assistant program at the University of Wisconsin- La Crosse in 2016. Erin worked as a physician assistant in cardiology at Gundersen Health System for 2 years.
Erin was a devoted follower of Jesus Christ and a beloved member of Cornerstone Community Church. Erin brought peace, wisdom, and encouragement to many in the way she lived her life. Erin had a deep love for music, playing her flute, and freely dancing. Erin loved trees, dogs (especially her black lab Sidney), wine, coffee, hiking, sunshine, traveling, Pride and Prejudice, and watching The Office. Erin’s life continues on as an organ donor to those in need.
Erin is survived by her husband Ryan Mathews, her parents Shawn and Michelle (Sierzant) Dunlap, sisters Morgan Dunlap and Molly (Bryce) Kujawa, and her grandmother Jean Sierzant.
A celebration of Erin’s life will be held at 6pm on Monday, November 12, 2018, at First Free Church in Onalaska. Friends may call on the family from 3 until 6pm at the church Sunday November 11 th . In lieu of flowers, memorials are preferred and will be donated in Erin’s memory.
