Elmer Carl Blank, 92, of La Crosse, WI passed away on Friday, April 11, 2025 at Gundersen Health System in La Crosse. He was born on June 7, 1932 in La Crosse to Fred and Luella (Bartsch) Blank. He was baptized and confirmed at First Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Crosse. He graduated from Central High School in 1951. He served with the U.S. Navy from June 1951 – June 1955, serving on the U.S.S. Dixie. He retired from Trane Co. in 1995 after 35 years. Elmer participated in the Freedom Honor Flight in 2013 with his son David as his guardian. He was a lifelong member of First Ev. Lutheran Church having served several years on Stewardship Committee.
Elmer is survived by his wife Inez, sons Michael (Lynn), David and Steven, grandchildren Joseph, Jacob and Amy (Brandon) Pier, a great granddaughter Addison Pier, two sisters June and Joyce, two sisters-in-law Leila and Irene, and two brothers-in-law Lyle and Glenn. He was preceded in death by four brothers, two sisters, six sisters-in-law and one brother-in-law.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 16, 2025 at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 400 West Ave. S., La Crosse. Rev. Roger Sachs will officiate. Burial will follow in Chapel of Devotion Mausoleum, Woodlawn Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:30 AM until the time of service.
