Elizabeth Ann “Liz” Heberlein, 83 of La Crescent, MN., passed away peacefully at her home on Monday, December 26, 2022 with her family by her side.
Liz was born in La Crosse, WI., on January 9, 1939 to Lloyd and Florence (Hundt) Erickson. Liz was known for being a great cook and baker and had the honor of being crowned Applefest Queen in 1958.
Liz retired from Kwik Trip where she was the Supervisor of the commissary for many years.
Our mother had many special talents in arts and crafts. Following her retirement, she and her husband Glen would enjoy doing crafts in the “Outback Room” Glen had built, while they watched the birds. Together with her husband Glen’s woodworking and her painting, they made numerous items for family and friends to enjoy also selling them in a few different shops in the area. For many years our mother made Christmas ornaments that she sold at the Apple Tree Flower Shop in La Crescent.
Liz is survived by her son Mark (Mary) Heberlein of Glendale, AZ., two daughters Heidi (Brent) Reid of Coon Valley, WI., Heather Heberlein (Mike) of La Crescent, grandchildren Jennifer Heberlein, Justin (Jordan) Heberlein, Miranda Wolfe (Tim), Nicholas (Rebekah) Wolfe, Skyler Wolfe (Levi), Matteo Heberlein, Ethan (Taylor) Reid, Garrett Reid, Emily Reid; great grandchildren Anthony Heberlein, Natayla Heberlein, Torbin Reid and her very special companion dog “Buttons”. She is further survived by brothers Michael (Jaime) Erickson, Steven (Mary Jo) Mickschl, Jeff (Cathy) Erickson, nieces, nephews, her very close special cousin Jeanie Hague and Coffee Klatch girlfriends.
We would like to thank Dr. Peter Franta, Mayo Clinic Healthcare, Mayo Hospice Care, Mayo ER, ICU and 7 th Medical. A huge thank you to our mother’s good friends and neighbors Rachel Pierson and MaryBeth Wieser who were big helpers.
In addition to her loving husband Glen, our mother was preceded in death by one son Matthew, her parents and sister Anntoinette.
