Earl H. Schrandt, 93 of La Crescent, MN passed away on Saturday, January 27, 2018 at the Hillview Healthcare Center in La Crosse. He was born May 31, 1924 in Winona, MN to August and Emma (Nast) Schrandt. At the age of 17 he began work as a welder in the Bremerton, WA shipyards. He returned to Winona and enlisted in the United States Army where he served for two years during World War II. On January 27, 1951 he married Joyce Belter in Winona.
Earl worked for 35 years as a welder for the Trane Company in La Crosse before his retirement. He was a member of First Ev. Lutheran Church in La Crescent and served on the finance committee for many years. Earl was also a member of the Disabled American Veterans.
In addition to his wife Joyce, he is survived by two sons; Brian of La Crescent and Todd of Keller, TX; three granddaughters, Ashley Theisen of Winona, MN; Izabella and Savannah Schrandt both of TX; a great-grandson, Corbin Flury of Winona; three sisters, Jean Strain and Ruth Dennis both of Winona and Betty Fritz of New Holstein, WI; a brother, Robert Schrandt of Money Creek, MN along with many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Lambert and Arnold; along with three sisters, Lovelette Richnofsky, Elaine Cerney and Donna Koetz.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 A.M. Saturday, February 3 rd at First Ev. Lutheran Church, 414 Main Street, La Crescent, with Rev. Chris Christenson officiating. Burial will follow in Trinity Lutheran Cemetery, Wilson Township, MN. Visitation will be held at the church on Saturday from 10:00 A.M. until the time of services. Military honors will be held immediately following the services at the church.
