Earl J. Patterson

Earl J. Patterson, 92 of La Crosse, passed away at his home on Friday, August 18, 2023. He was born December 24, 1930, in La Crosse to Roscoe and Berniece (Martell) Patterson and graduated from Houston (Minn.) High School. He proudly served in the United States Army from 1951 until his discharge in 1953.

On September 5, 1954, he married Gloria Summers in Houston, MN, and she preceded him in death on January 5, 2021. Earl worked as a purchaser and sales representative for La Crosse Telephone Company and later for Alcatel Telecommunications until his retirement in 1985. He was a past member of the board of directors for First Logic.

Earl loved fishing and gardening and enjoyed visiting with family and friends at his cottage in Brownsville, MN.

Earl is survived by two children; Jenelle (Tom) Lee of Birchwood, WI and Kris (Sue) Patterson of Mindoro, WI; five grandchildren, Jacob (Kari) Feldman, Jackie (Casey) Stadler, Angie Lee, Kyle Lee and Miranda (Brian) Milligan; four great-grandchildren, Ben, Aiden, Rowan and Bridger, along with several nieces and nephews. In addition to his wife, Gloria he was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Vernor (Patricia) Patterson and James (Shirley) Patterson.

In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Thomas L. Rooney V.F.W. Post 1530 or the Roy L. Vinger’s American Legion Post 52.
