Dorothy Helen Ofstedahl (age 89) of Holmen died Saturday, June 23, 2018. She was born October 13, 1928, in La Crosse to William and Helen (Schlicht) Wehling and grew up on their farm in the Chaseburg area. She married John T. Ofstedahl on March 8, 1952, and they farmed near Stevenstown.
Dorothy attended Viroqua High School and in her senior year graduated from Central High School in La Crosse. She worked at the La Crosse Auto-Lite, Holmen Canning Company, La Crosse Floral and provided respite care on behalf of Gundersen Lutheran Home Care.
She is survived by Three children; Dennis (Linda) Ofstedahl of Apple Valley, MN., Joan (David) Beecken of Banks, OR., Eric (Lea) Ofstedahl, Holmen, Wis., Five grandchildren, Jessica (Daniel) Franco, Abby (Wes Rivers) Ofstedahl, Paige (Andrew) Knight, Grant and Gavin Ofstedahl, two great grandchildren; Elianna and Esme Franco, one sister-in-law Arlene Wehling and nieces and nephews.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her husband John, her parents, brother Herbert Wehling, four sisters-in-law, Marie and Esther Olson, Agnes Evenson and Marian Ofstedahl, three brothers-in-law, Walton Ofstedahl, Orrin Evenson, and Jess Olson.
F uneral services will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Lewis Valley Lutheran Church, Stevenstown, WI. Visitation will be from 9:00 AM until the time of services. Burial will follow in the Lewis Valley Norden Cemetery. Dorothy looked forward to being happy in Jesus' presence and didn't want anyone to feel sad for her or obligated to wear black at the funeral on her account.
Memorial donations may be given to: Dakota Boys and Girls Ranch www.dakotaranch.org or Lutheran Indian Ministries at www.lutheranindianminstries.org or to the American Red Cross (including encouragement to become a blood donor).
The Ofstedahl family would like to express their sincere appreciation to the wonderful staff at Gundersen Hospital's sixth floor Medical and Oncology Unit and especially to the Palliative Care team for the exceptional care and support provided to Dorothy and the family during her time there.
