Donna J. Ready

Donna Jean Ready, 90, of La Crescent, MN passed away on Tuesday, April 9, 2024 surrounded by her family. She was born on April 24, 1933 in La Crescent to Earl and Ruth (Horihan) Gittens. Donna was a lifetime member of Crucifixion Parish in La Crescent. It was there on March 26, 1951 she married George Ready. Together they owned and operated Ready Grocery. Along with being a homemaker, Donna also waitressed for many years. Her kitchen was her happy place, baking and cooking for family and friends. She adored her four grandchildren and two great grandchildren. She was also a caregiver for many.

She is survived by two sons Steve (Sherry) Ready and Rob (Kim) Ready; grandchildren Chad, Heather, Karly and Ty Ready; two great grandchildren Erin and Cameron ready; one sister Carol Gittens; one sister-in-law Mary Ann Luedtke; special nephew Kevin (Annette) Gittens and their children along with lifetime special friends Betty Baier and Wilma Ambuhl. She was preceded in death by her husband George ‘Shorty’ and four sisters.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11:00 AM on Wednesday, April 17, 2024 at Crucifixion Catholic Church, 423 S. 2nd St., La Crescent. Rev. John L. Evans, II will officiate. Burial will follow in Crucifixion Cemetery. Visitation will be held at the church on Wednesday from 9:00 AM until the time of service.
